About Steve Brown
I'm an award-winning career photojournalist who runs The Sun Runner, The Journal of the Real Desert, and am also the host/writer/co-producer of the new PBS television series, The Real Desert with Steve Brown. I work out of Joshua Tree, California, but can be found anywhere across the Southwest - and the world (whenever possible - I love to hit the road).
I am more of a journalist than a fine artist, and I'm fine with that, but if every picture tells a story, then I have quite a few stories to tell. This site was begun in July, 2013, but look for galleries to be added to include work from the Sawtooth Fire of 2006, Thailand, Greece, England, New York, Jamestown, Oregon, Washington, and from his favorite haunts across the American Southwest.
In my copious spare time, I also serve as the infamous "Shanghai Brown," captain of the pirate jam band, There Be Pirates!. I am passionate about the Southwest, indigenous cultures, history, preservation, travel, and music.
My galleries tend to be organized by geography instead of subject matter. I apologize if that causes any confusion, but I encourage you to wander about. After all, that's what I do.....
Thanks for stopping by!
